They say that the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so when John met Demitria, he was bound to fall. As the two began to spend more and more time together, he noticed something interesting about her cooking. When it was time to prepare a meal, Demitria would take out an unlabeled bottle (often varying in shape and size) and pour some of its contents in the pan. He eventually learned that this was the olive oil that she grew up on, the olive oil that her family makes and ships to her from Greece.
After the two married, they decided to take a trip to Greece and visit Demi’s family. John felt an instant connection to the people, the olive tree, and the entire olive oil process. It was so fulfilling for them to be part of this centuries old tradition and leave with a product that they made themselves. They returned home and gave some to family, friends, and co-workers. After tasting the olive oil, everybody wanted to know more about the oil and was anxious to get more. They realized that this was an opportunity to stay connected to a beautiful culture and start a business, so in 2013, they formed DEMI Olive Oil.
The two now own property near Monemvasia, Greece, where the olives are grown. They return a few times a year and actually shake the olives off of the trees that are grown to make this olive oil. After the olives are broken down, the oil is immediately shipped back to New Jersey and bottled as DEMI Olive Oil at Cava Winery and Vineyard in Hamburg.
DEMI Olive Oil is very healthy, with low acidity, high phenols, and a peppery back taste. We invite you to try it for yourself and taste the DEMI difference!
